Post-doctoral Research Associate - Chromatin Biology in the Hannon laboratory (Fixed Term)

The Hannon laboratory at the CRUK Cambridge Institute (part of the University of Cambridge) is seeking to hire a Post-doctoral Research Associate to join a team of scientists studying chromatin dynamics during development and disease.

Research in our laboratory aims to study the dynamics of chromatin organisation using advanced chromatin profiling methods (scCUT&Tag) and single-cell genomics approaches (scRNA-seq). In this exciting project, you will use CRISPR/Cas9 to engineer cell lines and animal models that allow the modulation of protein activity with high spatio-temporal precision. You will study the effects of the activation or depletion of chromatin-modifying enzymes using combined transcriptomics and histone mark profiling from single cells. Our laboratory has a proven track record of developing and improving tools to address cutting-edge questions and this position comes with the opportunity to explore novel techniques that allow spatial profiling of chromatin marks and applying these methods to questions with biological relevance in chromatin silencing and cancer.

The role holder will undertake independent research in the context of the general research area of the laboratory, embedded within a diverse team composed of wet lab researchers and bioinformaticians. The role is best suited to candidates with training in molecular biology or biochemistry that have a background in epigenetics or RNA biology. Expertise with CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome engineering and/or genomics techniques is highly desirable, and familiarity with single cell approaches would be beneficial. The successful candidate will be creative and bring their original contribution to the research project, show self-initiative as well as the ability to effectively manage time and priorities.

The successful candidate will have completed or be near completing a PhD in a relevant discipline (Biology, Biochemistry, Natural Sciences). Some post-doctoral research experience would be beneficial but is not a requirement.
