Research Associate (Fixed Term)

We are looking for a Research Associate to join our Centre for Health, Injury and Illness Prevention in Sport. You will have the opportunity to work with Podium Analytics and industry partners to develop and implement a world leading system for reducing the incidence and burden of growth-related injuries in 11- to 18-year-old pupils.

About the role:

You will work with external partners, including the Podium Analytics and OutSystems, to deliver an efficient and effective programme for assessing and monitoring growth and maturation in school pupils and mitigating the risk of growth-related injuries. The work will be the integration of growth and maturity related assessment procedures within an existing platform application, the design and development of a school friendly user interface, the creation of written and visual educational content, and the design and delivery on an educational workshop and support service for schools. You will also undertake a small initial pilot trial to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of the programme and complete an accompanying report with recommendations for improvement and further development. 

This position is advertised full time (36.5 hours per week) and is being offered on a fixed term contract basis with 24 months.

About you:

Our ideal applicant will be able to: 

  • Have a PhD in Epidemiology, Human Biology, Growth and maturation, Injury in Youth Sports, Data Science, or related discipline
  • Demonstrate significant depth and breadth of specialist knowledge of subject matter to contribute to research programmes and to the development of departmental research activities
  • Exhibit proficiency in any experimental techniques and IT skills appropriate to this role
  • Work effectively with team worker and individually
