Salary £27511 to £33797 per annum, (pro rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience (minimum £30942 with relevant PhD).

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic organic chemist for a Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow post within the research group of Dr James Cuthbertson based in the GSK Carbon Neutral Laboratory for Sustainable Chemistry at the University of Nottingham. The project will focus on developing novel strategies for the aminofunctionalisation of alkenes and exploring the applications of this chemistry in the synthesis of amine-containing target compounds. This is a highly challenging project in synthetic organic chemistry, which requires excellence in contemporary practical skills, preferably demonstrated by your previous publication record. 

The successful candidate will carry out the following duties:

  • Undertake the development of new methodology and syntheses as directed by Dr James Cuthbertson.
  • Prepare high quality supporting information for publications resulting from the project.

Candidates must:

Hold a PhD (or be close to completion) in synthetic organic chemistry.

  • Be available to take up the post from 1st  January 2022.
  • Have a proven track record of excellence in synthetic organic chemistry.
  • Have excellent organisational, communication, and team working skills.

This full time post is available from 01 January 2022 and will be offered on a fixed term contract until 31 December 2024. Job share arrangements may be considered.
