The University of Nottingham is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/ Associate position to join a multi University and Industry consortium working in a highly innovative and state of the art project. Based at the University of Nottingham you will have a unique opportunity to lead the research and development of novel flow reactors for the sustainable manufacturing of next generation battery materials.

As an enthusiastic individual, this is an exciting opportunity for you to engage in key work packages that underpin the activities of the consortium.

A key aspect of your role will be to investigate the interactions between novel inorganic materials, used in battery manufacturing, and microwave energy and incorporate that knowledge to state of the art numerical simulations in order to support the design and development of continuous flow reactors for novel sustainable manufacturing processes.   You will engage with our collaborators in the Universities of Sheffield and Cardiff and our supporting partners (Advanced Microwave Technologies, Centre for Process Innovation, Faraday Institution, ISIS Neutron and Muon Facility, Johnson Matthey, Microwave Technologies Consulting, and Warwick Manufacturing Group) to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

You should hold or about to obtain a PhD in an engineering discipline, materials science or physics, and ideally have knowledge or experience of manufacturing processes and/or microwave processing techniques.

As a people-orientated individual, you will have the ability to influence and engage collaboratively between the teams at the various partner institutes. As a proactive person, you will have the enthusiasm and motivation to organise your own time effectively and have a flexible approach to prioritising tasks and work.

During your employment, you will be given the support and mentoring you need to nurture your talent. You will have amble opportunities for travel to meet with the project stakeholders and attend international conferences to help you develop your current research skillset and reach your personal and professional career goals.
