We are currently seeking a postdoctoral scientist to join a multi-disciplinary collaborative EPSRC funded research programme ‘Enabling next generation Additive Manufacturing’ involving analytical scientists, pharmacists, engineers, chemists, physicists and industrial collaborators.

The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting the analytical challenges of determining interface/interphase evolution at the microscale as related to adjacent voxels in 3D printed functional objects formed from different materials. You will help coordinate work between researchers from Nottingham, Birmingham and Warwick Universities and many disciplines as part of this larger project with other investigators and researchers. To meet the objectives of the role you will use a suite of complementary techniques including time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectroscopy, electron microscopy and Raman microscopy for analysis of the interface of deposited materials. Determination and, indeed, evolution of the appropriate methods for deposition, observation and, particularly, characterisation will be a priority.

Candidates must have a PhD submitted or awarded in a suitable science or engineering discipline that ideally includes significant analytical and data analysis experience in materials characterisation at the micro or nano scale. Experience in the specific analytical techniques highlighted above will be very welcome.

This full-time (36.25 hour) post will be offered on a fixed-term contract to the end date of the project, 30 April 2023. Job share arrangements may be considered.
