The University of Nottingham is running a project “Driving Research & Innovation“ to provide innovation support to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. From the Division of Food and Nutrition Sciences we deliver this support in the area of Food and Drink Manufacturing and we aim to advise SME businesses on the use of advanced, relevant, Global Knowledge in Sustainable Production and Healthy Eating within their manufacture of food and drink products.
The role will involve maintaining up-to-date knowledge in the areas of Sustainable Production and Healthy Eating and translating this into typical food and drink applications for the benefit of the SMEs based upon understanding their needs and those of their customers. Knowledge transfer will be the key part of these roles, in the form of direct one-on-one support and workshops organised to inform SMEs to support their own economic development.
Candidates must have a PhD (or be close to completion) in Biological/Physical/Food & Nutrition Sciences, together with considerable scientific knowledge gained from working within the area of Biological/Physical/Food & Nutrition Sciences.
It is essential that candidates have a high-level of analytical capability and an ability to communicate complex information clearly. They must also have hands-on experience of food ingredient handling, processing and extraction technologies and a proven ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively.
This is a full-time role (36.25 hours/week) and is available from 3rd October 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter on a fixed-term contract until 30th June 2023. Job share arrangements may be considered.
