An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate/Fellow in the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre (SPMIC), Mental Health and Clinical Neurosciences, School of Medicine at the University of Nottingham. The role holder will be part of a team working towards developing novel brain connectivity mapping approaches, based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The post is supported a 5-year ERC Consolidator Programme awarded to Prof Stam Sotiropoulos. Working on developing new algorithmic frameworks for multi-modal connectivity mapping using diffusion and functional MRI data. The role will have access to a broad international network of long-term collaborators, notably (but not limited to) in the Wellcome Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging, Oxford, (WIN-FMRIB) and the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR), Minnesota, USA. 

The role holder will be a member of the computational neuroimaging group (https://conilab.nottingham.ac.uk), led by Professor Stam Sotiropoulos. The team have an established track record in developing computational neuroimaging technologies for mapping the brain at a systems level and are active developers of FSL tools (https://www.fmrib.ox.ac.uk/fsl). They will further join the existing inter-disciplinary and vibrant environment team of the internationally recognised Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre (www.nottingham.ac.uk/magres), birthplace of MRI and soon to be home of the ultra-high field UK national facility. 

You will have PhD in neuroimaging, engineering, computational neuroscience, physics, applied mathematics (or near to completion of your PhD in a relevant computational domain). Skills in computer programming (especially Python or C++ or Matlab) and image processing/analysis are important. Experience in methods for specifically analysing neuroimaging data (MRI and/or microscopy/tracing) would be highly desirable.

This full-time (36.25 hours) position is offered fixed-term contract to 30th September 2026.
