Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate/Fellow specialising in Biomedical natural language processing (NLP), to work in the School of Medicine, University of Nottingham. The role is funded by EU HORIZON and UKRI through the ‘CoDiet’ project. This project aims to improve understanding of diet-induced non-communicable disease (NCD) risk. You will be part of an international and highly interdisciplinary project team developing AI driven literature searching tools, so strong teamwork and communication skills are essential. The overall aim of the role is to provide the data collection and standardisation, software development, and documentation for the analysis of unstructured biomedical literature. This will involve understanding existing tooling for compiling datasets, biomedical named entity recognition algorithms, relation extraction and knowledge graph generation. Automated pipelines for processing biomedical literature will be built by using and adapting existing tooling to support CoDiet use cases.

The successful candidate will be aware of developments in the field of biomedical NLP and have a background in text analytics algorithm development and evaluation.

The post is offered on a full time (36.25 hours per week), fixed term contract for two years. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Tim Beck, tel: 0115 8231040 or email [email protected]. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
