Research Associate/Fellow: Dial-up formulations (fixed term)

We are currently seeking a postdoctoral scientist with skills related to Synthetic and Materials Chemistry to join a multi-disciplinary team working on a new project “Dialling up performance for on demand manufacturing” funded under the EPSRC Programme Grant scheme. The objective of this Programme Grant is to create a toolkit and workflow for the rapid formulation of 3D printable materials with automated selection and dial up of bespoke properties. Within the wider Programme Grant, led by Professors Ricky Wildman and Felicity Rose, the MATERIALS: theme led by Professors Cameron Alexander (University of Nottingham) and George Malliaras (University of Cambridge) will investigate how can we create the materials that can enable control over advanced functionality / release, that are 3D Printable under a variety of conditions and for a range of applications. 

The work will involve direct interactions with multiple PDRAs at Nottingham, Cambridge, Reading and Strathclyde working on the same project, and the partner research groups of Professors Felicity Rose, Ricky Wildman, Clive Roberts, Derek Irvine, and Christopher Tuck (Nottingham) and Profs Wayne Hayes (Reading) and Alasdair Florence (Strathclyde).  In addition, the scientist in this theme will collaborate with the wider grant team including Profs Anca Pordea, Anna Croft and Morgan Alexander (Nottingham), and Profs Roisin Owens (Cambridge) and Blair Johnston (Strathclyde). 

The post will be based across labs in the Boots Science Building, the BioDiscovery Institute and The Advanced Manufacturing Building. Candidates are expected to have a PhD awarded or submitted in Chemistry or a related disciplines and have a track record in polymer synthesis and characterisation techniques used in pharmaceutical delivery and materials science. 

The post is offered on a full time (36.25 hours per week), fixed term contract of 24 months from 1st October 2022. Job share arrangements may be considered.
