Blavatnik School of Government, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford

Grade 7: £32,817 - £40,322 with a discretionary range to £44,045 p.a.

The Blavatnik School of Government is looking to recruit a Research Associate to join the new Digital Pathways initiative , which builds on the work of recently-concluded Pathways for Prosperity Commission .

The Digital Pathways initiative is a major cross-disciplinary research and policy programme that focuses on governance and public policy issues raised by new digital technologies. The programme will combine top class academic research with practical, pragmatic support to policymakers.

The postholder will be expected to undertake original, world-class research on digital interventions in education, aimed for publication in leading academic journals or books, and adapt existing and develop new experimental research methodologies and materials. A significant part of the postholder's job will also be non-academic outreach and engagement, overseeing small projects and programmes of work, and contributing to the broader Digital Pathways work plan, and coordinating with the EdTech Hub .

A successful candidate will have relevant applied research experience; a track record of internationally excellent publications, commensurate with the candidate's career stage; and the ability to carry out independent research. They should have the ability to innovate and take the initiative on developing new projects and methodologies; and excellent communications skills, with the ability to work with a diverse team, as well as the ability to use good, clear writing to synthesise complex issues for a non-expert audience. A PhD (or near completion) in a related field, such as education, psychology, or behavioural economics, is essential.

Applicants will be required to upload a CV, a supporting statement, two sole-authored writing samples and provide details of two referees as part of the online application.
