Research Associate - Development of Statistical Classification Models

The cough research team led by Professor Jacky Smith based at Wythenshawe Hospital are seeking a research associate to lead on a project investigating novel mathematical and statistical distribution modelling of cough event data. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary research team who have a world-leading reputation in development of methods to objectively quantify cough. The project will involve development of a range of machine learning methods to classify cough clustering according to respiratory diagnosis and evaluate how it may be modulated by pharmacological intervention.

You will be expected to hold a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area and essential skills and experience include development of statistical models and application to biomedical signals; ability to use initiative to efficiently plan, optimise and progress projects and communicate findings; and excellent verbal and written communicative skills. This is a full time post available from 2 December 2019 for a fixed term of 12 months.
