Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.

We seek up to 3 postdoctoral scientists to work with Professor Sir Shankar Balasubramanian on a Wellcome Trust funded programme to investigate the structure and function of chemically modified nucleic acid bases. This is an interdisciplinary project that encompasses the use of biophysics, chemistry and molecular biology on DNA and genomes.

We look to appoint chemists or chemical biologists to explore how chemically modified DNA bases affect the structure and function of DNA.  The research will involve nucleic acids chemistry and enzymology, protein-DNA interactions, epigenetics, chromatin structure and transcription.  We aim to gain a deeper understanding of the function of base modifications and their involvement in regulating gene expression in normal and disease states using cellular models from human, and mouse and also parasite models.  The successful candidate will have a capacity for innovation and creativity, and be curiosity-driven.  We value good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Candidates should have (or be about to receive) a PhD in a relevant discipline.

The position is available immediately.

Previous applicants need not apply.

Please ensure that you upload a 2-page Curriculum Vitae (CV), a covering letter that explains your motivations for the position and your publications list in the Upload section of the online application.  If you upload any additional documents that have not been requested, we will not be able to consider these as part of your application.
