A position is available for a Research Associate to work within the prestigious MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics at Cardiff University. The successful candidate will work on a large multisite international consortium project studying the development of co-occurring physical and mental health disorders (multimorbidity). The project will examine the role of genetic and environmental factors in physical and mental health multimorbidity development. 

The post will involve analysis of already collected longitudinal data on physical and mental health multimorbidity across the lifespan (in particular between internalizing and cardiometabolic disorders). Analysis will be conducted within and across a unique large data resource of five cohorts covering the lifespan. Genetic factors that will be examined include rare variants as well as polygenic risk scores. The impact of ethnicity, socio-economic position, neurodevelopmental disorder, traumatic life experiences and gender on multimorbidity development will also be evaluated. 

The successful candidate will work closely together with the investigators and Research Associates at six other research sites in the Consortium and contribute to successful collaboration. The role involves the preparation of first-authored papers for journal submission as well as the contribution to other papers developed by the Consortium. The role will also include student supervision. 

The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree at PhD level or equivalent industrial experience.

This post is full time (35 hours per week), available from 1st December 2021 and fixed term until 31st August 2025.

Salary: £34,304 - £40,927 per annum (Grade 6), but please note that it is anticipated the maximum starting salary for this post will be £35,326 per annum.
