An excellent opportunity has arisen at Warwick Medical School for a hard-working, enthusiastic and self-motivated Research Associate to work with Dr Rachel Spencer (an NIHR advanced fellow) on a project to improve safety of discharge from hospital for older patients in primary care (GP-MATE). Dr Spencer is an academic GP; her details can be found here . The Unit of Academic Primary Care is leading work to revitalize primary care locally, nationally and internationally through supporting innovative approaches to primary care, research and teaching.
You will be involved in preparing material for a co-production process including interviewing patients for a trigger film. You will work in GP practices in the West-Midlands area to explore their systems of care for older patients after discharge from hospital. You will then assist with the co-production processes in West-Midlands, Manchester and Nottingham areas (although these processes may take place online). In the possible 2-year extension you will work on testing an intervention developed in our co-production process in practices in the West-Midlands.
This role offers an outstanding opportunity for an early career researcher to gain valuable experience in intervention development by co-production. Your role will involve updating literature reviews, stakeholder and patient-public co-production and healthcare systems analysis. There will be the opportunity to co-author several papers. In the possible 2-year extension you would work with health behaviourists and CTU statisticians to test the intervention with the aim of preparing for a definitive trial.
You will have a good honours degree and possession of a good Masters or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative analysis with demonstrable experience in a both areas together with experience of both qualitative and quantitative research in a health-related area is essential. You will have excellent communication and presentation skills and excellent time management and organisational skills.
