The role

The Research Assistant role is a one-year full time post working on high profile research project, funded by the Home Office, in the Centre for Policing Research and Learning (CPRL). The work programme involves the delivery of several projects focused on learning and development and police officer wellbeing in the context of rape and serious sexual offences (RASSO) investigation. The research assistant will be part of a large research team led by Dr Emma Williams (Principal Investigator) and will provide many opportunities for career development, academic publications, and impact in the criminal justice system. The Research Assistant will be joined by a Senior Research Fellow and a Research Fellow

Skills and experience

  • A first degree or equivalent experience, ideally in a social science or other discipline of relevance to the research project.
  • Masters qualification in a relevant subject area.
  • Experience of qualitative and quantitative research in a policing context and knowledge of quantitative analysis.
  • Qualitative analysis skills such as NVIVO.
  • Computer literacy and ICT competence.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Takes responsibility for own elements of work within a team framework.
  • Evidence of an ability to produce work to agreed quality and within tight deadlines.
