Department of Non-Communicable Disease Epidemiology

We would like to appoint a full-time Research Assistant in the Department of Non-Communicable Disease Epidemiology for a fixed term position working on a series of Wellcome-funded studies. The postholder will apply epidemiological methods to investigate the relationship between acute infections and non-communicable diseases such as dementia and cardiovascular disease using a range of linked UK routine health datasets. They will be based in the Electronic Health Records research group at LSHTM, which conducts a portfolio of studies investigating disease aetiology across a range of clinical areas using cutting-edge methods.
Candidates must have an MSc in Epidemiology or equivalent postgraduate qualification. They must have experience of handling and analysing complex health datasets including data on acute infections and the ability to write well-organised programming code e.g. in Stata. Knowledge of relevant health topics e.g. infectious disease surveillance and dementia would be an advantage. Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is full time and fixed-term until 30 April 2022.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale Grade 5 paying £35,377 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
