Overview of the Role

Are you an early career researcher looking for your first challenge?   Do you have a background in human molecular genetics and cell biology?  Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research-intensive Universities?

The person appointed will use bioinformatics and molecular genetics approaches, including next generation and long-read sequencing and CRISPR-cas9 gene editing in induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) culture, to study the inherited basis of defects in human enamel formation. The appointee will be supervised by a newly appointed Lecturer in Biomineralisation within an established, successful amelogenesis research group working across the Schools of Dentistry and Medicine, University of Leeds. As well as building on existing genomics expertise in the tooth disorder amelogenesis imperfecta, this new programme will add cellular disease modelling and transcriptomics dimensions to the research. Findings will be shared with patients via close links to dental practitioners and to the Northeast and Yorkshire Genomics Laboratory Hub, supporting additional increased clinical research in this area. This post will therefore support highly translational medical research at the international forefront of dental disease genomics research.

What we offer in return
