The Department of Psychology is seeking a Research Assistant. 


About the role

This research assistant role is an exciting opportunity to work on a programme of work aimed at improving access to early help for adolescent depression using online self-help single session interventions. 

The programme of work is led by Dr Maria Loades, Clinical Psychologist and NIHR Advanced Fellowship holder, who will work closely with you.

This post is a great opportunity to build/consolidate research skills for someone who is interested in youth mental health using a range of research methods. Patient and public involvement, and science communication are key to the programme of work. 

This role is offered on a part time (29.2 hours per week) fixed term basis with an expected duration of 40 months. 


Required skills include:
  • juggle multiple projects at once, requiring good organisational skills.
  • search for, synthesise and summarise existing relevant literature, and experience of systematic reviews would be beneficial.
  • conduct qualitative data collection through interviews and focus groups.
  • curate and analyse qualitative and quantitative data, including using R and NVivo.
  • interface professionally with stakeholders including young people, parents, clinicians and researchers.
  • use social media, including Instagram and TikTok, to share information like study adverts.
  • draft academic papers for submission to peer reviewed journals, present at conferences and share findings on social media and via blogs.
