Applications are invited for the above post of part-time research assistant in the UCD School of Irish, Celtic Studies and Folklore. The successful candidate will work under the direction of Dr Ríona Nic Congáil (Principal Investigator) on the research project `Youth Engagement in European Language Preservation, 1900-2020', funded by the European Research Council (2019-2024). https://www.ucd.ie/yeelp/en/

Job Details

The successful candidate will work on the Irish language aspect of this project: undertaking archival research (e.g. in the National Archives, National Library, etc.) and collecting information on publishing and reading habits of young people in the Irish language. The appointed candidate will also help to organise events and will help with project administration. They must be willing to work through the medium of Irish and English. Applicants for this post should hold a postgraduate qualification in modern Irish (2.1 minimum) and they should have experience of archival research.

`Youth Engagement in European Language Preservation, 1900-2020'

This is an interdisciplinary project that aims to establish the ways in which youths have engaged with, or disengaged from, the preservation of minority and regional European languages in the period since 1900. The project focuses on the Irish, Welsh and Catalan languages and there will be five academics on the research team.

Salary Range: €27,109 - €28,267 per annum pro-rata

Salary offered will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
