Duties and Responsibilities
CMI is a multidisciplinary research team based at the Division of Medicine in University College London. We are a part of the Research Department of Imaging. Our research focus is on medical clinical imaging and our work is translational in nature, reflecting the interests and experience of our team.
The post-holder will work with Prof Mallett on statistical analysis including diagnostic and prediction studies within across a range of imaging studies in cancer and other conditions. Responsibilities of the post include: statistical support and analysis of data from clinical trials and cohort studies following Standard Operating Practices for statistical analysis, working to ethical standards required, working closely with statistical and clinical colleagues, ability to clearly communicate statistical concepts to clinical colleagues.
This post is funded for 1 year in the first instance.
Key Requirements
The postholder must have MSc Medical Statistics (or relevant in higher degree) and relevant experience. They must have solid understanding in statistical concepts as well as good understanding of trial, epidemiological study or meta-analysis design and principles.
They must demonstrate meticulous attention to detail on data handling and for a higher grade be able to present reports of data and analyses. The postholder must have good oral written communication and be willing to learn new techniques, and work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team whilst be able to act on own initiative.
For appointment at grade 7: PhD in Medical Statistics (or a closely related subject), existing knowledge of the biology and epidemiology of a disease area, preferably cancer, and willingness to develop this knowledge is the relevant studies’ area. Knowledge and understanding of diagnostic and prediction (or prognostic) studies. Practical experience of handling and using statistical methods in the analysis of trial,  cohort or IPD meta-analysis data. Preparing and presenting reports of data and analyses (eg Statistical Analysis Plans, Independent Data Monitoring Committees, and Study Steering Committees).
