Role Description

We welcome applications for this exciting new post from those with relevant knowledge and experience in researching high-fidelity modelling and simulation capabilities for rotorcraft certification.

About the Role

This post will be contributing to advancing the frontier research in high-fidelity rotorcraft modelling and simulation for certification, within the 3-Year EU CleanSky2-funded project (extended to April 2023). Your role will focus on using a System Identification approach, to explore the fidelity of existing rotorcraft simulation models provided by the industrial player and to produce a rational, physics-based approach to improve the model quality appropriate for certification.

About You

You will be educated to doctoral level with a PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related subject (or close to completion).  In addition to the knowledge required, you will have a strong track record in the modelling and simulation of rotorcraft systems, using system identification tools on flight test data.

You will be organised and proficient at planning project deliverables, enjoy giving presentations, and be able to assist in project integration workshops and other meetings.  With excellent communication skills, you will be a good team player, and have the ability to cope with pressure. Excellent mathematical and numerical research skills are also important skills for this post along with the ability to demonstrate self-motivation, perseverance, and initiative.
