Role Description
Full time starting salary is normally in the range of:
Research Assistant £28,203 to £32,039 per annum
Research Fellow £37,337 to £41,406 per annum
About the Role
This role will contribute to research in cutting edge organic synthesis of energetic materials. This project is in collaboration with the University of Warwick and the University of Birmingham.
As Research Assistant you will be responsible for planning and carrying out research as directed within CfDC, contributing to the advancement of the discipline and the discovery of new knowledge.
As Research Fellow you will be responsible for taking ownership, plan and carry out research as required within CfDC, contributing to the advancement of the discipline and the discovery of new knowledge.
In addition you will be expected to:
- Publish papers in peer reviewed journals and presentations at conferences
- Liaise with analytical and test facilities to ensure timely testing of energetics
- Run analyses and tests using specified and agreed techniques and models
- Acquire and interpret research data and results
- Prioritise tasks within an agreed work schedule
- Contribute to the development of techniques, models and methods
- Demonstrate and maintain research activity of high reputation in the UK and abroad
- Contribute to the research function of CfDC
The role is challenging and involves planning, integrating and coordinating diverse responsibilities within the research project. This includes the delivery of milestones, communication and cooperation with project partners and sponsors and the associated health and safety aspects of working with energetic materials.
About You
As Research Assistant you will have a degree in chemistry or a field of science related to the area. As Research Fellow you will have a PhD (or nearing completion) in a field of science related to the area or the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience. In addition you will have experience of organic synthetic chemistry and delivery of research in leading international journals. You will have evidence of working across discipline boundaries to deliver results with an understanding of the fundamentals of organic synthesis and characterisation techniques.
