Research Assistant / Research Fellow in Battery Testing, Thermal Modelling and State Estimation

Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2025

Full time starting salary for a Research Assistant position is normally in the range of £28,203 per annum

Full time starting salary for Research Fellow position is normally in the range of £37,337 per annum

About the Role

Cranfield University welcomes applications from well-qualified postgraduates with a background in battery systems to apply for this fantastic opportunity to work on an industrial project focusing on lithium-ion battery testing, thermal modelling and state estimation. This project is funded by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) as part of the Faraday Battery Challenge.

About You

For the RF role, you need to have a PhD degree (or close to completion) in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics/Transport Engineering or a similar discipline and have experience in battery systems. For the RA role, you do not need to hold a PhD degree however, a BSc/MSc degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics/Transport Engineering or a similar discipline or have experience in battery systems is required.

You will contribute to an exciting project in collaboration with project partners in the UK. The focus of this project will be on battery testing, thermal modelling and state estimation. You will have a fantastic opportunity to work with industrial collaborators and gain valuable insight into the state-of-the-art prototype battery cells and their performance.
