Applications are invited for a Research Associate/Assistant post in Professor Sarah Bray's research group, available from 1 August 2022. You will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team investigating Notch regulatory networks in development and their relevance to disease. To discover how Notch signals are decoded in real time in vivo we are using methods for live-imaging of transcription and of nuclear complexes, including single molecule tracking of transcription factors in living tissues, complemented by molecular and genomics approaches. One question we are addressing is what epigenetic mechanisms remodel enhancers during cell fate transitions to programme the correct response to signalling (for example to maintain stem cells or promote differentiation depending on the context) and to enable enhancers to select the correct promoter.
We are an inclusive and welcoming group, committed to mentoring and supporting the career development of all members. We are now looking to recruit a highly motivated scientist with strong investigative skills. The project will involve generating new tools through genome editing and other molecular approaches and you should have experience in current techniques. Knowledge of developmental biology, Drosophila genetics and/or experience of genome-wide transcriptional analysis would also be an advantage.
We will consider applicants at either Research Assistant or Research Associate level. You should have a degree in a STEM/biological subject (Research Assistant) and preferably a PhD (Research Associate), with relevant expertise in molecular biology and imaging.
Further information about research in the Bray group can be found at: https://www.pdn.cam.ac.uk/directory/sarah-bray . For informal enquiries, please email Prof Bray at: [email protected] .
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 July 2025 from an MRC Programme Grant.
In your application please upload your Curriculum Vitae (CV) and a motivation letter detailing why you want to be part of this project, explaining how your training and experience are relevant for the position and how this post will be a good stepping-stone for your career. We also need the contact details for two people who can provide a professional reference.
Please quote reference PM31061 on your application and in any correspondence about this vacancy.
Closing date: 30 May 2022.
Interviews are expected to be held in June.
