Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor (RAP) in the Department of Psychology (Ref: 516506), to commence on December 1, 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

The Department of Psychology was founded in 1968 and was the first department of psychology in Hong Kong.  The Department is represented by 20 faculty members with different areas of expertise, including clinical psychology/neuropsychology, cognitive psychology/cognitive science, neuroscience, educational and developmental psychology, as well as social/health psychology. Our faculty members engage in a broad range of research across the discipline, from basic human neuroscience to educational policy, as these different areas of research inform and complement each other.  This unique research environment enables the integration of different disciplinary areas into cohesive and empirically sound research programmes that are translated into measurable societal impact.  We also support open science and strive for high integrity, trustworthy, replicable, and reproducible research. We value diverse research methodologies. Further information about the Department can be obtained at https://www.psychology.hku.hk .

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Clinical Psychology, with a demonstrated track record of research and teaching, or sound indicators of such potential. Preference will be given to those: i) with at least 3 years’ clinical experiences in the context of professional practice in the local settings; ii) with experiences of providing clinical supervision to clinical psychology trainees; and iii) having the ability to teach courses in child psychopathology and family and group therapy.

The appointee is expected to maintain an independent research programme (including securing external research grants, writing scientific publications), and contribute to teaching courses and supervising student research at both graduate and undergraduate levels, as well as other duties as assigned.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salary tax in Hong Kong does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.

The University only accepts online applications for the above post.  Applicants should apply online, upload an up-to-date CV and state the contact information of three referees on the online application form.  Enquiries about the post can be sent to the Chair of Selection Committee ([email protected] ).  Review of applications will start as soon as possible and continue until September 30, 2022 , or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.
