The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.

The role is to support the work of two projects, the MOMENTUM project and the Health Equity Action Lab.

The MOMENTUM Safe Surgery in Family Planning and Obstetrics works to prevent future and current pregnancy-related mortality and morbidity by promoting awareness of, equitable access to, and high-quality care for voluntary and consented safe surgeries: Caesarean delivery, fistula repair, childbirth-related hysterectomy, long-acting reversible contraception, and permanent voluntary family planning methods.

The Health Equity Action Lab has a mission of conducting community-engaged, policy-relevant research to improve health equity.  The postholder will be expected to contribute to the group’s research focused on health inequalities in Brazil. Using nation-wide electronic health and social records routinely collected in Brazil, the postholder will contribute to investigating the social and environmental determinants of health.

The role will support the PIs and the MOMENTUM and Health Equity Action Lab project teams with the completion of deliverables including progress reports, research briefs, publications, and PowerPoint presentations.

It is essential the candidate has experience working on research data from LMICs and desirable to have working knowledge of French language and previous international collaborative work experience.

The post is full-time, 1.0 FTE, fixed term and available from 1 January 2023 until 31  October 2023.

The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale Grade 5 in the range £36,438-£41,829 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro-rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
