We are seeking a Research Assistant to join the Metabolism and Gene Regulation Group, headed by Dr. Santiago Vernia, within the Genes and Metabolism Section of the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (MRC-LMS). Research in the Metabolism and Gene Regulation group led by Dr Santiago Vernia focuses on the molecular mechanisms leading to fatty liver disease and cardiovascular complications associated with obesity. Current research interests in the lab include the development of RNA-based therapeutic approaches to treat these pathologies.

The post holder will provide technical support for ongoing research projects within the group, as well as act as a general lab manager. Responsibilities will include maintaining transgenic mouse strains, and performing physiological and biochemical assays. Previous lab experience with molecular biology is essential. Previous experience with mice would be beneficial.

The successful candidate should have excellent communication, organizational and research skills, a strong work ethic and attention to detail, meticulous record keeping, and a positive attitude to learning and trouble-shooting new methods.
