Duties and Responsibilities

UCL is one of the UK’s premier universities and is consistently ranked in the world’s top 10 in a number of international indices. Two IOE departments Culture, Communication and Media (CCM) and Psychology and Human Development (PHD) are involved in this project under the umbrella of the research centre UCL Knowledge Lab. The UCL Knowledge Lab is a leading interdisciplinary research centre on digital research and design in education whose mission it is to understand and to develop digital technologies to support and transform education, and beyond.

Numbermix is an award-winning Social Enterprise that develops innovative approaches to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) education and provides engaging education tools for preschool to KS5 aged children across the academic ability spectrum.

The main duty of the post holder is to lead and successfully deliver the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between UCL and Numbermix in scaling up the current Numbermix active mathematics sessions. The post holder will lead the design, development and evaluation of a digital platform that includes student-facing apps, a set of classroom-wide applications and a Learning Analytics portal.

The post carries a £6,000 dedicated personal development budget and £11,250 for travel and consumables. The post holder will predominantly be based at Numbermix offices in Amersham with frequent travel to UCL.

The post is available as soon as possible and is funded for 36 months in the first instance.

Key Requirements

The post holder will have a good first degree (preferably in Computer Science, Educational Technology or related discipline) and a Masters (or equivalent experience) in Education, Psychology, Computer or Data Science or other cognate areas.

Experience in software development of both server-and client-based software and ideally with tools that are relevant or directly applicable in education is essential as is expertise in and experience of working with Educational Technology stakeholder groups.

A qualification or previous experience related to Educational Technology is desirable.
