We wish to recruit a research assistant to a study funded to investigate the cognition and wellbeing of young adult twin pairs (21-23 years old) with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and/or autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The main role is recruitment and data collection. The post-holder should be willing to conduct extensive recruitment and long data collection sessions (e.g 3-4h each). They should be enthusiastic about encouraging young adults from the Twin Early Development Study to take part in the study, via recruitment by phone/email/text and follow-ups. They should also be willing to undertake extensive EEG data collection across the UK when required, e.g. travelling frequently as part of the role (once or twice a week). They should enjoy the highly interpersonal aspects (e.g. psychiatric assessments) as well as the more technical aspects (e.g. EEG) of the project. It is imperative to be flexible to suit the needs of participants, i.e. working evenings on a weekly basis (e.g., 9am-7pm) and around two weekends a month (and taking time in lieu). They should be comfortable working weekly to meet pre-specified targets (e.g. recruiting and collecting data for a certain number of participants). A good work ethics, ability to work as part of a team, and commitment to the project finishing on time are essential.
The post-holder will join a dynamic and friendly team on a cutting-edge project combining developmental psychopathology, behavioural genetics and mobile technologies. They will have the opportunity to develop knowledge in these areas, attend regular talks, and explore further postgraduate training opportunities (e.g PhD). A commitment of minimum one year is required and there may also be opportunities to extend the role beyond the first year. The candidate has to be able to start as soon as possible (August or early September the latest), attend all training the first two months, and be available for interview on 31st July 2017.Interviews are scheduled to be held: 31st July 2017.
