About the role

We are looking for a Research Assistant to work in our Transplant Research team. You will be based in the Transplant Research lab at the NHSBT Oxford Blood Donor Centre (John Radcliffe Hospital) as your normal place of work.

You will be working closely with senior researchers and scientists in the team and will be responsible for the provision of research support in the laboratory and efficient laboratory management. You will spend fifty percent of your time undertaking laboratory management tasks, ensuring the smooth running of the research facilities and the remaining fifty percent of the time will be spent supporting laboratory work on an array of research projects revolving around the topic of improving quality in organ donation and ex-vivo organ preservation techniques.

About you 

You will be educated to an MSc degree level in biology, biomedical sciences or relevant subject and will have experience in working in a laboratory environment. You will need to show great organisational skills and the ability to manage research and administrative tasks. Experience in troubleshooting and selecting appropriate experimental methodologies will be essential. Previous experience in handling human tissues, blood and urine samples and working with proteins and immunoassays will be desirable.

This full-time post is available immediately and is fixed-term for 12 months in the first instance.
