Research Assistant in Outbreak Pathogen Vaccine Trials

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join Professor Arturo Reyes-Sandoval’s team as a Research Assistant in Outbreak Pathogen Vaccine Trials within the Jenner Institute located at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics.

The position involves supporting the general program of immunology within the outbreak pathogen vaccine trials and occasionally other vaccine trials as necessary. Core activities involve processing human blood samples from Zika and Chikungunya clinical trials and performing cellular immunology techniques carried out with human blood samples including ELISPOT and flow cytometry, as well as various ELISA techniques (full training will be given). Experience of working to GCP/GCLP would be an advantage. This also includes general lab duties (maintaining supplies, consumables and instruments); processing samples, preparing reagents; cataloguing frozen samples; and data analysis. You will be highly organised, with proven experience in a laboratory environment.

You will have a first degree or equivalent in a relevant biological subject. You will have good interpersonal skills and be able to interact productively and accurately with other team members. Previous laboratory experience, good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.

The position is funded by Innovate UK and is fixed-term for 1 year in the first instance.
