Research Assistant in Haematopoietic Stem Cell Biology

Applications are invited for a pre-doctoral Research Assistant to work with Professor Adam Mead and Dr Beth Psaila in the Haematopoietic Stem Cell Laboratory, MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on an innovative project developing new therapeutic targets for myelofibrosis – a severe bone marrow disorder. This post will involve working with primary human tissue samples and cell lines and liaising with industry collaborators. The postholder will perform scientific work to high technical standards, and demonstrate excellent record keeping and organisational skills.

Key experimental procedures will include conventional cellular and molecular biology techniques such as purification of primary human cells, cell culture, flow cytometry analysis and sorting, and more complex, state-of-the-art protocols to prepare cells, for single cell sequencing and analysis by mass cytometry (CyTOF).

You will hold a first degree (2:1 or above) in a related subject, such as biochemistry together with substantial laboratory experience.

The post is available fixed-term for 12 months, with potential for extension.
