Research Assistant in Haematopoietic Stem Cell Biology

Applications are invited for a pre-doctoral Research Assistant to work with

Professor Adam Wilkinson

at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine.


This is an exciting opportunity to participate in an innovative project studying haematopoietic stem cell biology and leukaemic evolution. The postholder will perform scientific work to high technical standards, and demonstrate excellent record keeping and organizational skills. Key experimental procedures will include cell and molecular biology techniques such as purification and culture of primary stem cells, flow cytometry, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, in vivo functional assays, and state-of-the-art omics protocols. The post-holder will join a highly committed and expert team working on innovative basic and translational research.

You will hold a first degree (2:1 or above) in biomedical sciences (biology, biochemistry, genetics or similar) together with substantial laboratory experience, including stem cell culture, processing cell samples and molecular biology such as PCR and preparation of libraties for Next Generation Sequencing. Experience of haematology or stem cell biology is desirable.

The post is fixed term from until 31 March 2025, funded by the Kay Kendall Leukaemia Fund.
