About the role:

We are seeking a brilliant Research Assistant to work at the frontier of research in novel food production methods as part of the EPSRC Sustainable Manufacturing Hub CARMA. This project leads a major effort to transform food production, transitioning to an environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable model in which novel manufacturing systems complement traditional food production. This research could drastically reduce carbon emissions and land use compared with traditional meat manufacture, for instance.

You will work as part of a highly multidisciplinary team to develop novel downstream separation methods for cultured meat and precision fermentation. You will be supported by CARMA researchers on developing targets to separate from the fractions that are produced.

This is a full-time, 4-years, fixed term post available from March 2024. We strongly encourage applications from candidates interested in pursuing a PhD via the staff route .

About you:

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant undergraduate degree in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, process engineering, chemistry or relevant subject area
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • A background in separations, membrane science and chemical engineering and/or downstream food separation processes is desirable.
  • An interest in pursuing a doctoral qualification via the staff- PhD route available at Bath – check this link for further information.
