We are seeking a graduate researcher to join an exciting ongoing project at the interface between developmental psychology and cognitive neuroscience. We are developing and validating new methods to investigate why attention supports early maths learning across neurotypical and neurodivergent young children. The project builds on a now long-standing collaboration with Computer Science and is funded by a grant awarded by the Leverhulme Trust.
A particular objective of this project is the integration of behavioural, eye-movement, heart rate and electroencephalographic (EEG) data. The position will involve working with an interdisciplinary team on methods development, validation and refinement, collaborating with young children, their parents and school in Oxfordshire.
The post is full-time fixed term for 24 months (although a part-time pro rata arrangement might be considered).
The successful candidate will hold a good undergraduate degree in Psychology, together with relevant interests in developmental cognitive neuroscience methods. In particular, expertise with eye-movement and / or heart rate and / or EEG data will be required. Also required is an understanding of experimental methodologies, experience of data analysis, data entry, data processing and of relevant statistical packages.
You will have a keen interest in developmental psychology and in developmental cognitive neuroscience. Excellent communication skills, interests in working as part of an interdisciplinary team and the ability to manage your own research are also required. Experience of working with children and families in the laboratory and / or with children and educators in schools is essential. The post involves travel to schools around Oxfordshire, which may be facilitated by having access to own reliable transport, although this is not essential.
The closing date for applications is midday on 17th May 2022. It is anticipated that interview will be held in the week commencing 6th June 2022. It is hoped the post-holder will be able to start in the post on 1st July or as soon as possible thereafter.
