About You

With research experience in corpus linguistics and critical discourse analysis, you will be familiar with relevant tools/resources such as ProQuest Database, SketchEngine and Wordsmith. Experience in the field of climate crisis and autism would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be able to work flexibly and independently with highly effective organisational and communication skills. 

About the Role

In this role you will provide quality research support on a research project entitled, ‘Portrayals of Greta Thunberg in the British Press’ and funded by Edge Hill’s University Research Investment Fund. The project will investigate how the British press uses language to portray Greta Thunberg. Responsibilities will include working with Dr Themis Karaminis (Department of Psychology), Dr Costas Gabrielatos (Department of English, History and Creative Writing) and Professor Geoffrey Beattie (Department of Psychology) to develop a corpus of articles and text from the press that refer to the young activist. You will also perform appropriate corpus-linguistics analysis to address the project’s research questions, supported by the project’s research team.
