Research Assistant in Biomedical Imaging

We are seeking a full-time Research Assistant to join the Biomedical Imaging research group at the Department of Engineering Science, Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Headington, Oxford.  The post is funded by CRUK and is fixed-term up to 31 March 2022.  Though the position is full-time, part-time at 30 hours per week would be considered – please specify in your application

The purpose of this project is to develop neural networks and visualisation tools to assist pathologists in their decision making. This will serve as a roadmap for the development of automated classifiers and visualisation techniques that can facilitate patient diagnosis and risk stratification in routine histopathology.  You will be responsible for developing web-based visualisation apps for histopathological data, as well as deep learning algorithms for classification of large histopathological images.  The specific research project requires expertise in modern methods for image segmentation and classification of large imaging data using convolutional neural networks

You should possess a relevant first degree, together with relevant experience and have excellent programming skills (e.g. in Python, Java and C++).  You should also have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.  Good experience in machine learning and software development is also essential.
