We seek a Research Assistant for Long Term Video Understanding, beginning 1st  August 2023, for a maximum of 6 months. The Assistant will lead in designing, realising, and testing an efficient system for content retrieval that can handle multi-modal audio, image, text, and video data, especially for footage longer than 10 seconds. The project is part of the ELMER: Efficient Long-term Multi-modal vidEo  Retrieval project, funded by AI4Media . The work, overseen by Dr Andrew Gilbert,  will be carried out at the Centre for Creative Arts and Technologies  within the Department of Music and Media, University of Surrey . You will benefit from frequent interactions with industrial experts through advisory meetings with technical project partners.

The successful candidate will have experience working with computer vision technology (hardware and software), machine learning experience, and a background in human-inspired vision. Experience with a PhD or equivalent experience is highly desirable. A proven track record supported by academic publications or physical systems previously deployed will be essential for efficiently delivering the work programme.
