Applications are invited for the position of a Research Assistant to join the groups of Drs Tony Green and Elisa Laurenti within the Department of Haematology/Cambridge Stem Cell Institute on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. This highly collaborative multi-laboratory project will focus on understanding the impact of ageing and stress on normal and patient-derived human blood stem cells.

The post holder will be well-grounded in basic cell and molecular biology techniques and have excellent communication and organizational skills. The post holder will support the research team in a wide variety of molecular and cellular approaches. These include handling of primary human samples (healthy donors and patients), flow cytometry sample preparation and analysis, DNA/RNA isolation, cell line maintenance, primary cell culture, and tissue collection.

The post holder must have research laboratory experience in cell biology (preferably blood cell biology). Specific experience in handling patient samples, mononuclear cell isolation, DNA extraction, flow cytometry and primary cell culture are desirable but not required. The successful candidate must hold a degree in a relevant related subject.

This appointment is full time.

Fixed term: The funds for this post are available for one year in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
