Research Assistant (Fixed Term)

Updated: over 2 years ago
Location: Cambridge, ENGLAND
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 08 Aug 2021

We are pleased to advertise a post for a Research Assistant to use 3D organoids and live-organoid imaging to study early cancer development in breast epithelial cells in Dr Mona Shehata's group.

Breast cancers generally arise through genetic perturbations in particular the acquisition of mutations and growth by clonal expansion. A key question for understanding the early steps of breast cancer is how does the surrounding microenvironment influence clonal expansion, enabling tumour progression.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to investigate the interplay between early disease and the local microenvironment. The successful candidate will apply state-of-the-art 3D organoid cultures to improve our understanding of how breast cells develop into cancer. The role holder would be expected to perform downstream analysis including live organoid imaging, 3D immunofluorescence imaging, in-vitro stem cell assays and FACS analyses. In addition, you will design and accurately execute experiments and also establish and optimise protocols and techniques. It is essential that you have a BSc or higher with a concentration in molecular biology, cancer biology or a related field.

Informal inquiries about this position should be directed to Mona Shehata at [email protected]  with reference number RD27451 in the subject line.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted the successful candidate will be required to undergo a security check.
