Research Assistant - Direct Air Capture

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Location: Swansea, WALES
Deadline: 10 Jul 2022

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Postgraduate researcher to join Swansea University’s marine energy research team that covers the engineering of all types of marine renewables and is working on experimental, computational, and field survey research projects.

To deliver its sustainable top 30 ambition Swansea University needs a professional services workforce with the differentiated skills necessary to ensure that it can deliver excellence through efficient and effective systems and processes that harness innovations in technology.

This role considers the identification, preparation, and characterisation of carbon dioxide capture material, used in the process of CO2 scrubbing directly from the air (i.e. direct air capture). Performance can be enhanced through materials formulation changes. The role involves working in a chemistry laboratory including the use of analytical instrumentation.

The successful candidate will perform their own analysis and interpretation of results, and will assist with production of reports, presentations, funding applications and publications as directed. It is expected that Research Assistants will normally have at least a good first degree or equivalent in Chemistry/Materials Engineering or equivalent.
