Research Assistant - Cellular Screening

We are seeking a Research Assistant to join the Screening Team within the Garnett Laboratory . You will participate in the drug sensitivity and CRISPR-Cas9 screening of cancer cell models utilising state of the art automation platforms and sample management systems.

About Us:

The Translational Cancer Genomics Team focuses on understanding the consequences of alterations in the DNA of cancer cells. We do this at scale using multiple approaches including drug sensitivity and genetic perturbation screens in cancer cell line and organoid models. Vulnerabilities within cancer cells identified from the data generated can then be exploited as novel drug targets or as genetic markers for patient selection.

About the Role:

This laboratory based role provides an exciting opportunity to work with cancer cell models including organoids and a collection of over 1000 cell lines. In addition you will prepare and process microwell assay plates for drug sensitivity screening, perform CRISPR-Cas9 screens and provide general support for the laboratory. The role will require you to be adaptable and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to co-ordinate tasks between team members and across projects.

This position offers recent graduates the opportunity to develop their tissue culture and molecular biology skills. It also enables individuals who have gained experience in technical roles to establish themselves in a research team.
