Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative project between The Department of Surgery and Cancer and the Data Science Institute that is aiming to solve the problem of the health infodemic.

You will be the lead Data Scientists for a the REDASA (REaltime DAta Synthesis and Analysis) and R-CANCER (Realtime data synthesis and analysis for CANCER detection and Prevention) projects. Both stem from the same technology pipeline, and they are building tools for the autonomous systematic analysis of structured and unstructured data sources for COVID-19 and Colorectal Cancer respectively.

This project has been undertaken in close partnership with Amazon Web Services, MirrorWeb and Cloudwick Technologies (https://blog.aboutamazon.co.uk/innovation/imperial-college-london-to-launch-covid-19-infodemic-knowledge-platform-using-aws ) and recently been awarded NIHR AI Grant Phase 1 Funding.

You will be working as part of a large multidisciplinary team and you will have the opportunity to work closely with all of our academic and commercial partners, as we scale this technology to market.


Duties and responsibilities

You will be expected to assist in the maintaining of the data collection and curation pipeline, working closely with the co-PIs in charge of the data quality and machine learning strategy.

You will be working end to end of the data pipeline from acquisition to quality assessment and Natural Language Processing (with or without Machine Learning) applied to various classification and summarisation tasks. Practical experience with all these techniques is highly desired or the ability to pick up all these methods quickly.


Essential requirements

You would have experience in Python (for Data Processing and Machine Learning) and JavaScript scripting skills. Experience working with cloud technologies such as S3, Kendra, Ground Truth Sage Maker or similar open-source implementation is required as the project relies heavily on AWS technologies.
