Part time 18.5 hours per week; fixed term for up to 11 months 

This post is an ideal opportunity for an early career scholar to gain experience and develop skills in teaching and research. This is a fixed term, part time post for 11 months, working in the Science Subject Area. Working days will be negotiated with the successful applicant as appropriate. You will work in a team of researchers to evaluate the effectiveness of social prescribing in Northamptonshire. The project is funded by NHS Northamptonshire and led by the University’s Institute for Social Innovation and Impact. The post requires you to co-ordinate and carry out interviews with users of the Spring Northamptonshire social prescribing service and undertake qualitative analysis of this data. Your teaching duties will support the BSc Health Sciences program and will involve delivering teaching sessions, marking assignments and supporting students on modules within your subject specialism.

About you 

You will have a background in health sciences or a related subject area and have some experience in conducting qualitative or quantitative social science research. You will be able to communicate effectively in different mediums including using formal documents and in online/face to face meetings.  A knowledge of ethical research principles and a willingness to deal with confidential or personal data in a secure and professional manner is essential. The successful candidate will be ICT literate and have experience in using digital tools in education and/or research activities.  You will be highly motivated, organised, supportive, and able to work collegiately within a team. Formal teaching experience is not essential as training and professional development will be provided, but you may have informal experience in teaching, training or mentoring through voluntary or paid work.

Qualifications 

Essential:

• Undergraduate degree in Health Sciences or a related discipline

Desirable:

• Master’s or Higher degree in a relevant subject
• Member of relevant professional body

Faculty 

You will join a focussed and collegiate Health Sciences team, based in the Division of the Faculty of Arts, Science & Technology, with an embedded culture of student-focused teaching and high impact research. The Spring Northamptonshire research project is being conducted jointly with colleagues in the multidisciplinary Institute for Social Innovation and Impact. We also have excellent research and teaching links with the Division of Sport and Exercise building on our work in physical activity and health and with the Psychology and Health Professions subject areas in the Faculty of Health, Education and Society.
