The Opportunity

This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a team of staff committed to driving sustainability at Keele University linked to Keele University’s Institute for Sustainable Futures and School of Geography, Geology and the Environment and be a core part of a national Climate Ambassador programme funded by the Department for Education and led by the University of Reading and EAUC.

The Regional Hub Manager for the West Midlands will be one of nine other regional hub Managers that will engage education settings (nurseries and Early Years settings, schools, FE colleges and universities) in the programme and recruit and support volunteer Climate Ambassadors to support education settings to develop and implement climate action plans. The role holder will work to understand the region’s needs and use these insights to shape the national Climate Ambassador programme and adapt the national Climate Ambassador strategies and practices to their local region, delivering these to ensure strong engagement of both education settings and volunteer ambassadors.

The successful candidate will have a degree in an environment-related subject, or relevant experience; have a broad understanding of sustainability and climate issues and solutions in education settings; and experience of delivering successful sustainability and/or education initiatives, ideally with experience of rolling them out to wider audiences. They will be a confident communicator and able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of individuals, partners and stakeholders, and have strong project management skills.
