Role Description
Currently operating 08.00 – 18.30 Monday to Friday (09.00 – 18.00 Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday), the airport has annual movements of circa 35,000 that includes business and executive jets, general aviation and rotary wing operations, and has an annual turnover of £1.5m per annum.
The airport operates several aircraft of their own, including the National Flying Laboratory SAAB340B or 'flying classroom'. In addition to this, the university, in particular Cranfield Aerospace carries out extensive research to design and test work for industry and the Ministry of Defence. The airport is also home to the Meteorological Office’s BAe 146 Aerial Research Aircraft.
Cranfield Airport has a wide variety of aircraft operating in to and out of the Aerodrome. Aircraft range from light general aviation aircraft that require over wing refuelling to Business Jet Aircraft that require pressure refuelling. The main responsibility of the role is to carry out aircraft refuelling tasks, control of fuel farm duties and undertake control of aviation fuels as per Civil Aviation Authority requirements together with Cranfield Airport policies and procedures. You will work effectively and flexibly as part of a small team to ensure the highest standards at all times.
Our number one priority is safe operations in accordance with National (CAA) and European (EASA) requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
A HGV Level 1 licence is essential. The role is physically demanding with heavy fuel hoses. A strong work ethic is vital.
Aircraft flying schedules rely heavily on ensuring that aircraft are refuelled in a timely manner. You must have the ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure. The job not only involves aircraft refuelling but also ensuring that the fuel farm is kept to a safe standard at all times.
Additional information
Cranfield Airport offers a range of excellent benefits which includes 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, a contributory pension scheme and excellent development opportunities.
