You will work closely with Prof. Ryder and a group of both academic and industrial partners on the development of electrolyte and electrolytic methods for the electroplating of zinc-nickel coatings using ionic liquids for aerospace as an alternative to cadmium.  The 2-year project is funded by Innovate UK under the Industry Strategy Challenge fund.  The role will involve practical lab work as well as industrial liaison and travel to project meetings.  You will be a confident and effective communicator as well as a skilled scientist.  The role will involve communicating with and reporting to senior academics, senior company management as well as junior scientists and shop-floor process workers. 

You will hold a good honours degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Chemistry or Electrochemistry, as well as a good understanding of metal ion electrochemistry in non-aqueous media
