The Leicester Innovation Hub is a three year, ERDF part-funded, SME applied research and innovation support programme and a dedicated physical innovation space in the brand new, recently refurbished, highly visible creative multi-purpose multi-million-pound University’s flagship research and innovation space.
There are some incredible career opportunities to announce with the introduction of our new Leicester Innovation Hub. We are keen to welcome a new Earth Observation Innovation Fellow into our expanding team to lead and manage the successful delivery of practical innovation support from the University through the Leicester Innovation Hub (part-funded by European Regional Development Fund).
As a critical member of the team, you will manage and deliver a proportion of the ERDF and University outputs and outcomes on time and to budget by developing and delivering Earth Observation based innovation focused workshops to recruit relevant SMEs to deliver collaborative projects. Demonstrating your tenacity, you will proactively build and maintain research, business and industry activity in Earth Observation, develop industrial partnerships with businesses to capitalise on University research outcomes and grow enterprise activity.
We will rely on you to practically and intensively support qualifying SMEs to launch new products and services and or introduce new processes by meeting their innovation needs in collaboration with the University. You will build and manage a pipeline of commercial collaborative project opportunities aligned with priority Innovate UK and Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund themes.
As the successful candidate, you will join us with a postgraduate qualification in a related discipline or a graduate with relevant practical industrial experience. It is essential that you have excellent working knowledge of Earth Observation and commercial opportunities through the application of satellite enabled data methods and working knowledge of Earth Observation data collection, managements and representation, including databases. Plus, ideally, experience of working with and supporting SMEs to launch new products and services and increase market share. You will have training and or extensive workshop delivery experience to plan and deliver practical engaging innovation themed workshops and have the ability to demonstrate to others how to use sensitive and sophisticated techniques. This role requires an individual who is a self-starter who is able to work as part of a team. This opportunity would be ideal for a candidate who enjoys delivering practical solutions working collaboratively with SMEs with proven ability to build strong and credible relationships with commercial partners, academic researchers and intermediaries at all levels and can confidently manage multi-stakeholder projects.
