Overview

Applications are invited for the post of Reader in Translational Bioinformatics. The successful candidate will make significant contributions to the intellectual life of the School / Institute and research field of transcriptomics analyses in cardiometabolic traits, as well as play a key role in the expansion of the field across the Institute and the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. They will lead their research group by example, providing direction that will enable its success, deliver high quality teaching which enhances student experience, as well as contributing as a senior academic to the wider achievements of the School / Institute and Institution.

About You

In line with the University of London standards for the conferment of the title of Reader, the post-holder will achieve this by:

1. Having a postgraduate qualification in an area related to the discipline;

2. Making important research contributions to the field;

3. Having access to extended transcriptomic data from tissues / cells relevant to cardiometabolic traits

4. Expertise in bioinformatics and machine learning

5. Advancing the subject or profession through publications, creative works or other forms of scholarship or performance;

6. Delivering high quality teaching including making innovations in key aspects of teaching and learning;

7. Contributing to the administration of research, teaching and other university activities;

8. Maximising opportunities for public engagement in the subject.

The post is based at the Charterhouse Square Campus in London. It is full time Readership post, a permanent appointment, with an expected start date of 1 February 2023. The starting salary will be Grade 7 and commensurate for a non-clinical Reader.
