Radar Range and Doppler Resolution Techniques for Electronic Warfare

Updated: about 2 hours ago
Location: Cranfield, ENGLAND

The project will be concerned with developing novel range and Doppler resolution techniques and prediction solutions that allow an EW system to distinguish two targets with high performance in hostile environments. The project will allow the student to acquire unique expertise in Electronic Warfare, radar systems and radar signal processing.

Overview

The project is to contribute to a DSTL research programme in Electronic Warfare to develop novel radar resolution techniques and predictions for application in hostile environments.

The project will be concerned with developing novel resolution techniques in distance and speed and solutions that allow the prediction of radar resolution performance in representative engagement scenarios. The project will allow the student to acquire expertise in radar systems and radar signal processing and develop unique expertise in Electronic Warfare.

What will you Learn

The main objectives of this project are:
• Carry out a review of range and Doppler resolution techniques and how this can be used to predict the performance of a radar
• Develop novel resolution and prediction techniques
• Investigate the performance of the developed techniques in representative hostile scenarios

Location of Study

The student will be physically located at Cranfield University, in the Centre for Electronic Warfare Information and Cyber at Cranfield Defence and Security (CDS). CDS provide unique educational opportunities to the Defence and security sectors of both public and private sector organisations. Based at the UK Defence Academy at Shrivenham in Oxfordshire, CDS is the academic provider to the UK Ministry of Defence for postgraduate education at the Defence Academy, training in engineering, science, acquisition, management and leadership.
